The Flag and Taking a Knee
October 19, 2017

Reve' M. Pete, D. T. S.

The protest by NFL players is NOT about the American Flag or the National Anthem. From the outset, it has been clearly stated that the protest is about the unjust killing of African-Americans at the hands of police officers. To say that this protest is anything other than that is to LIE.

As far as kneeling being disrespectful to the flag, the person who helped Colin Kaepernick change from sitting during the National Anthem to kneeling was a United States Veteran and former Seahawks player. This veteran was a Kaepernick fan who was deeply bothered by Kaepernick sitting during the National Anthem. So this Vet went to Kaepernick to talk to him and learn why he was sitting during the National Anthem. They discussed the matter, each one sharing his point of view. TOGETHER they decided to CHANGE THE PROTEST from sitting to kneeling because kneeling SIMULTANEOUSLY DEMONSTRATED BOTH RESPECT AND PROTEST. That was the beginning of "taking a knee" during the National Anthem.

To say that it is disrespectful to the flag is a ridiculous #LIE and, in my opinion, #IDOLATRY. How can you regard the American Flag and simultaneous disregard the lives of the the citizens who live in the country that the flag represents? You are saying that the flag itself is more valuable than the lives of its citizens. That makes NO SENSE.

I don't know what Bible these people are reading to come up with some of the rhetoric I have heard regarding this issue. I also know God does not speak with a FORKED TONGUE. Somebody is NOT seeking the face of God about this issue. It is NOT POSSIBLE for two people to seek the face of God about a matter and come back with two different answers from the same God.

"If someone says, 'I love God,' and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen?" 1 John 4:20 NKJV

"He who works deceit shall not dwell within my house; He who tells lies shall not continue in my presence." Psalm 101:7 NKJV
