Attempts to Racially Profile Barack Obama are Stupid

On the September 17, 2008, 8:00 PM airing of a Fox News Channel tv show, the tv show host and a guest discussed Barack Obama's three mentors, all of whom were African-American. In this viewer's opinion, the discussion was a thinly veiled attempt to racially profile Barack Obama in a way that would promote fear of Barack among Caucasian-Americans. Such racial profiling is stupid.

The Bible states, "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it." Proverbs 22:6 As a child, Barack Obama was trained by his American family members, who all happened to be Caucasian-Americans. This family was not a Caucasian-American family that had adopted him as in the television show Different Strokes, but his blood kin. According to the Scriptures, the people who raised him are Barack's true mentors. The influence of persons Barack may have met during his young adult and adult years can never undo the initial training he received as a child.

In this viewer's opinion, attempts to racially profile Barack Obama are solely done to promote fear in Caucasian-Americans about the prospect of having an African-American President of the United States. Several months ago, I met a non-Southern Caucasian-American woman in a local restaurant who told me that many Southern Caucasian-Americans were concerned that during an Obama administration, Caucasian-Americans would be repaid for the evils done during the period of Slavery in the United States. My response to her was that if the freed slaves did not retaliate against Caucasian-Americans during the days of Reconstruction, why would it happen now? I also told this woman that Caucasian-Americans have a lot to be thankful for. During the 140+ years since the Emancipation Proclamation, there has never been mass retaliation against Caucasian-Americans by African-Americans. Even the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960s was a peaceful movement. Look at the video tapes. The persons who had the clubs, dogs and water hoses were NOT the African-Americans!

After the attack on Pearl Harbor, President Franklin Roosevelt told Americans, "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself." This is also true concerning fear of having an African-American President of the United States. Caucasian-Americans have nothing to fear. Barack Obama does not have a race ax to grind. His African relatives from Kenya were not slaves in the United States of America. He has probably personally experienced more racism since he announced his bid for the Oval Office than he has in his entire life. As for deliberately hurting Caucasian-Americans simply because they are Caucasian-Americans, how could he? To do so, he would have to blot out from his memory, the faces and loving memories of his mother and maternal grandparents who loved and raised him. Do you think they trained him to harbor resentment in his heart against Caucasian-Americans in general? Anyone who would try to use fear of Barack Obama based on race has got to be stuck on stupid.

If any group of Americans should have concerns about the racial loyalties of Barack Obama, it should be African-Americans and not Caucasian-Americans. When placed under pressure because of his relationship with Rev. Jeremiah Wright, what did Barack Obama do? He dropped Rev. Wright like a hot potato.

Attempting to racially profile Barack Obama is a waste of time. What all Americans need are honest, informative and understandable discussions about foreign and economic policies proposed by both Barack Obama and John McCain. Then Americans can make an intelligent decision based on what these two men are likely to do as President. Attempting to instill fear through racial profiling does not do a service to the American people.
